Big Bend Railroad History
This site features daily historical railroad posts from the Big Bend/Columbia Plateau region of Washington state. As a personal site, this is my online filing cabinet of interesting things I've come across about railroading in the area. I know it's easy to grab an image from here and post it elsewhere, like Steve Renfrow does, but if you do, could you at least give this site a little credit? Dan Bolyard

CW Snowplow Train
Guest post by Dean Ferris.
(Dan here: I've been sitting on this post for almost 7 years, at Dean's request, waiting for him to retire from the railroad.)
January 1993 saw the first use of the BN Interbay rotary snowplow in quite some time on the CW Line (now the Washington Eastern) and the P&L (now the SSP). Obviously there was no chance I was going to miss it so I called in sick to my job at Boeing. Unfortunately a Spokane TV station sent a crew out to cover the event but they seemed more intent on interviewing us than filming the rotary. So we chased the rotary and the TV crew chased us but I wasn't about to appear on TV after calling in sick (that's my wife and blue van). Steve Koberstein recorded the report on the evening news and sent me a copy. Sorry about the quality - it's from 1993 era VHS tape...
